NANOBROWS
Introducing Nanobrows (the name coming from the ultra fine Nano needle used in this technique) aka machine stroke brows, shaded stroke brows, hyperrealism brows.
The Nanobrow technique uses a cosmetic tattoo machine and a single ultra fine needle to tattoo single hairs onto the brow, resulting in what is truly the most natural looking brow enhancement available.
As this technique is fairly new to many, here’s a few questions that clients most frequently have:
how are nanobrows different from microblading?
The esthetic of Nanobrows and Microblading are quite similar in the sense that they are individual hair strokes tattooed onto the skin to give the appearance of having more brow hair. There are a few key differences between the techniques:
Nanobrows are made using a cosmetic tattoo machine and a single needle. Microblading is done using a hand tool and a microblade.
The Nano technique is very gentle on the skin and isn’t known to create trauma or scar tissue. Microblading, unfortunately, has been known to be quite traumatic to the skin resulting in scarring.
Clients who have a more oily skin type who are not candidates for Microblading are candidates for Nanobrows.
Nanobrows tend to hold color for longer, resulting in less frequent touchups. Expect to come in for a refresher around every 18-24 months or so.
Hairstrokes CAN be intersected in a single session using the Nano technique, resulting in the most natural interwoven pattern. One of the limitations of Microblading is that all hairstrokes must remain spaced apart and not intersect in a single session.
I already have microblading. Can I have Nanobrows?
The answer is YES!!! As with all cosmetic tattooing, it’s best to wait until your current tattooing is pretty well faded before coming in to add more color. Once your brows are no longer very saturated, Nanobrows are absolutely an option for you. If you are wondering if your brows are light enough for a refresh, please send a clear, well lit makeup free photo of your brows to appointments@slashandlash.com

how to prepare
Be sure that you are scheduling your appointment during a time that you can allow yourself approximately 7-10 days to heal. During your healing period, you will need to avoid sun exposure, sweating, swimming, sauna, cosmetics on the area, and skincare near the area.
Avoid blood thinning agents if possible. Blood thinners include but are not limited to alcohol, Advil, Aspirin, fish oil and caffeine. ALWAYS consult your medical professional before starting or stopping any medications.
Feel free to come wearing your brows how you typically pencil them. Also, it can be helpful to come prepared with pics of brows that you like and also ones that you don’t like.
What to expect during your appointment
At the beginning of your appointment, there will be a thorough consultation during which we discuss what kind of brows you are interested in. Then, your face will be measured and meticulously mapped. A brow style will be drawn to complement both your bone structure and the size/shape/style that we discussed during the consultation. Individual hairs will be drawn into the chosen shape so that you can get a very accurate mock up of what your final result will look like. Once you approve the design, we will begin. I also ask that clients keep a mirror with them so that they can take a look at ANY time during the process. You are involved in every step of the process.

one more thing…
Because some lasers used in skincare react poorly with ink, it is advised that you alert your laser technicians that you have cosmetic tattooing on your brows so that they may take extra care to avoid the area.
